Staff Positions, Afghanistan War Commission

The Afghanistan War Commission is actively seeking qualified candidates to fill a variety of roles at all levels on the commission’s research, operations, and communications teams. Positions are expected to be full time, in-person, and based in Washington, D.C. Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

We are looking for candidates for the following roles (updated January 2025): 

  • Analyst, Policy and Diplomacy Team – Responsible for collaborating with team members to define research objectives, develop research methodologies, and design data collection processes; collecting and compiling data from various sources, including through interviews and document analysis, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and relevance to research objectives; utilizing rigorous analytical approaches and tools to analyze data and identify meaningful insights; contribute to the drafting of research results and presentations that effectively communicate research findings; and other responsibilities. Policy and Diplomacy Analyst PD
  • IT Specialist/Network Admin – Responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore the AWC IT systems, services, and capabilities; monitor and evaluate AWC systems’ compliance with IT security requirements; and provide advice and guidance on implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of AWC networks.
